An XML sitemap is a roadmap of your website that helps Google bots understand your site's structure. Submitting an XML sitemap ensures that your funnels, pages, and content are indexed properly, increasing your chances of ranking higher in Google search results.
This guide will show you how to generate an XML sitemap in Captivation Hub and submit it to Google Search Console.
Step 1: Generate an XML Sitemap in Captivation Hub
- Log into your Captivation Hub account.
- Navigate to Funnels & Websites > Domains.
- Locate your domain and click the three dots on the right-hand side.
- Select XML Sitemap.
- Click Generate & Save.
📌 Note: If you see a message saying, "Uh-oh, it's empty," don't worry—this just means no sitemap has been created yet. Proceed with Generate & Save to create one.
- Once generated, copy the XML sitemap URL.
Step 2: Submit Your Sitemap to Google Search Console
Create or Access Your Google Search Console Account
- Go to Google Search Console.
- Click Start Now and log into your Google account.
Step 3: Add Your Website to Google Search Console
There are two ways to add your website:
1️⃣ Domain Verification – Covers your entire domain, including all funnels and subdomains.
2️⃣ URL Prefix – Covers only a specific URL (e.g., a single funnel).
How to Verify Using the Domain Method (Recommended)
- Click Add Property and select Domain.
- Enter your full domain name (e.g.,
yourdomain.com). - Click Continue—Google will provide DNS verification steps.
📌 If your domain is hosted on GoDaddy, Google can verify it automatically.
📌 If you use another DNS provider, follow the instructions to add a TXT or CNAME record in your DNS settings.
- Click Verify and allow a few minutes for the verification process.
- Once verified, click Go to Property.
Step 4: Submit Your XML Sitemap in Google Search Console
- In the left-hand menu, go to Indexing > Sitemaps.
- Under "Add a new sitemap," paste the XML sitemap URL copied from Captivation Hub.
- Click Submit.
✅ Your sitemap is now submitted!
Step 5: Check Sitemap Status & Troubleshoot Errors
After submitting, you may see a yellow warning or red error message.
What to Do If You See an Error?
- Refresh the page—Google servers may need time to update.
- Wait 24-48 hours—Google needs time to analyze your sitemap.
- Check for broken links—Make sure your funnel pages are live and accessible.
📌 Once Google processes your sitemap, your pages will start appearing in search results!
