Custom Product Detail Pages (PDPs) in Captivation Hub let you build dedicated, on-brand pages for individual products — perfect for richer storytelling and higher conversions. Using the funnel builder you already know, you can design, assign, and manage PDPs that override the default product detail experience. Routing from Product Listings Pages (PLP), featured sections, and direct links all respect your mapping automatically, with a safe fallback to the default PDP if needed. This guide walks you through the benefits, setup steps, and best practices.
What Are Custom Product Detail Pages?
Custom Product Detail Pages are purpose-built product pages you create inside Captivation Hub's Funnel/Store Builder and map to specific products. Instead of relying on a single default PDP for everything, you can craft unique layouts and messaging per product while keeping your store navigation intact. When a product has a Custom PDP assigned, shoppers who click it from the Product List Page (PLP), featured sections, or any direct link will land on that custom page.
Custom PDPs give you more control over merchandising and brand expression at the product level. By pairing a product with a dedicated page, you can highlight unique value props, upsells, and media — without disrupting your store's standard flow.
Step 1 — Prerequisites
Before setting up your Custom PDP, make sure you have the following in place:
- At least one product created (Payments → Products) and included in your online store.
- Access to the Funnel/Store Builder in your account.
- Confirmation of which store or site you're editing.
Step 2 — Create a New Custom PDP
Go to Funnels → Stores → Select your store → Add New Page.
Turn on Custom Product Details Page. In the modal that appears, search for and select the product(s) you want to map to this page.
When you create a new Custom PDP, it starts as a one-time copy of your Default Product Details Page — so you begin with a fully built layout rather than a blank canvas. The copied design includes:
- Section structure and layout
- Store elements (media, title, price, variants, CTA, etc.)
- Styling (fonts, colors, spacing, borders, shadows)
- Visibility rules (desktop/mobile)
Note: This inheritance is a one-time copy. Any future changes to your Default PDP will not update existing Custom PDPs.
Step 3 — Build Your Layout
Use the editor to build conversion-focused product pages. PDP elements and global text settings still apply, so you can combine Custom PDP layouts with store components you already use.
Design Tips:
- Drag in PDP-friendly elements (images, video, features, reviews, Related Products, etc.).
- Use Text Customization to localize labels and messaging across PDP elements.
- Keep key actions (Add to Cart / Buy Now) above the fold; repeat CTAs on longer pages.
- Reuse blocks and components across product pages to stay visually consistent.
When you're happy with the layout, click Save and Publish.
Assigning, Reassigning, and Managing Products
Product-to-page mapping controls where shoppers land. Here's how to map initially, switch mappings later, and confirm which products are associated.
During page creation: Use the assignment modal to map products to the new Custom PDP.
After creation (reassign): Open the Custom PDP in the builder, select the relevant product element or page settings, and use the Settings panel to update the product assignment.
Single association rule: Assigning a product to a new Custom PDP automatically removes it from the previous one.
Navigation from PLP or Featured Sections: Routing from product lists or featured sections will always go to the correct PDP — custom or default — based on your current mapping.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a product be assigned to more than one Custom PDP?
No. Each product can be linked to only one Custom PDP at a time. Assigning it to a new Custom PDP removes the previous association automatically.
What happens if I delete a Custom PDP?
All associated products automatically revert to the default product detail page — nothing is left without a destination.
Do clicks from the PLP and featured sections respect Custom PDP mapping?
Yes. Navigation routes to the Custom PDP when configured, with a fallback to the default PDP if no custom page is assigned.
Do PDP-compatible elements and Text Customization settings work on a Custom PDP?
Yes. PDP-compatible elements and Text Customization settings both work on Custom PDP layouts.
Do new Custom PDPs start from a blank page?
No. New Custom PDPs start as a copy of your current Default Product Details Page, so you begin with a complete layout already in place.
If I update the Default PDP later, will my Custom PDP update too?
No. The Default-to-Custom inheritance happens once at creation. There is no live sync between the Default PDP and existing Custom PDPs.
Does creating a Custom PDP change my Default PDP?
No. Creating a Custom PDP does not modify the Default PDP in any way.
Are existing Custom PDPs affected when I create new ones?
No. Existing Custom PDPs keep their current design and settings.
Why don't I see the "Create Custom Product Details Page" option in certain funnel flows?
In funnel-first flows, the option is hidden to keep the experience streamlined and focused on the funnel structure.
