Overview
Captivation Hub supports PayPal as a payment option for calendar bookings, giving your clients a familiar checkout experience alongside existing gateways like Stripe, Square, Authorize.net, and NMI. Clients choose their preferred method at the time of booking, and funds settle directly into your connected PayPal account.
Supported Calendar Types
PayPal works with Service (v2), Round Robin, Collective, and Personal calendars. It is not supported with the legacy Service Menu (v1). If both PayPal and Razorpay are connected, Razorpay takes priority by default — disconnect Razorpay if you want PayPal to be used instead.
Step 1 — Connect PayPal to Your Account
- Go to Payments > Integrations.
- Click PayPal > Connect, then enter your PayPal Client ID and Secret.
- Click Save.
Step 2 — Enable Payments on Your Calendar
- Go to Calendars > Settings and open the calendar you want to charge for.
- Under Forms & Payments, toggle Accept Payments on.
- Choose PayPal as the payment provider, or leave it on Default if PayPal is the only gateway connected.
- Enter your Amount, a Description, and choose Live or Test mode.
- Click Save.
What Clients See at Checkout
When a client books an appointment on a calendar with PayPal enabled, the booking widget displays PayPal as a checkout option. If other gateways (Stripe, Square, etc.) are also connected, clients can choose their preferred method. PayPal checkout does not require clients to enter card details — they pay using their PayPal balance or linked bank account. Guest checkout through PayPal is not supported for calendar bookings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I offer both PayPal and card checkout?
Yes. If Stripe, Square, NMI, or Authorize.net are also connected, the booking widget will display PayPal alongside card options. The client chooses at checkout.
What if I also have Razorpay connected?
Captivation Hub prioritizes Razorpay when both are active. To use PayPal instead, disconnect Razorpay or update your default gateway.
Where do PayPal payments land?
Funds settle directly into the PayPal account connected under Payments > Integrations.
Can I issue refunds from inside Captivation Hub?
Not at this time. PayPal refunds need to be processed from your PayPal dashboard. Once refunded, the transaction history in the appointment record will reflect the change.
Does PayPal work with recurring appointments?
Yes, for supported calendar types (Service v2 and others listed above). The legacy Service Menu (v1) and custom in-app recurring appointments are not supported.
