The Chat Widget is one of the most effective tools for turning website visitors into potential leads. It lets you provide immediate support right where your customers need it, without making them leave your page or wait for an email reply.
What are Chat Widgets?
The Captivation Hub Chat Widget is an embeddable messenger you can add to any page on your site or funnel. It lets visitors start real-time conversations with your team through Web Chat (labeled as Live Chat in setup), Email/SMS, Facebook, Instagram, Voice AI, or WhatsApp — all routed directly into your Captivation Hub Conversations inbox.
Key Benefits of Chat Widgets
Chat widgets give your business a direct line to visitors at the exact moment they are ready to take action. Here are some of the key advantages:
- Real-Time Customer Support: Visitors get instant answers to their questions, reducing friction and drop-off.
- Lead Capture: Start collecting contact information the moment someone engages — no form needed.
- Multi-Channel Messaging: Meet your audience wherever they are, whether that is web chat, SMS, WhatsApp, or social media.
- Automated Follow-Up: Connect your chat widget to workflows in Captivation Hub to trigger automated responses and follow-up sequences.
- Increased Conversions: Engaging visitors in real time keeps them on the page longer and moves them closer to booking or buying.
Chat Type Options
When you create a chat widget, you will choose one of the following chat types based on how you want to communicate with your visitors.
1. All-In-One Chat
This option combines multiple messaging channels into one widget, giving visitors the flexibility to choose how they reach you. It is the most versatile option if you are active across several platforms.
2. Email and SMS Chat
Captures the visitor's email or phone number and routes their message directly into your Conversations inbox. A great choice for capturing leads without requiring a real-time agent.
3. Live Chat
Enables real-time web-based messaging between your visitor and your team, routed into Conversations. During setup this option is labeled as Live Chat, but it functions as standard web chat on your site.
4. Facebook Chat
Connects your Facebook Business Page so visitors can message you through Facebook Messenger directly from your website.
5. Instagram Chat
Routes Instagram direct messages from your website visitors into your Captivation Hub inbox, keeping all conversations in one place.
6. WhatsApp Chat
Lets visitors start a WhatsApp conversation with you directly from your page. Requires a connected WhatsApp Business number.
7. Voice AI Chat
Connects your widget to a Voice AI agent so visitors can speak directly with an AI-powered assistant on your site.
Using Conversation AI Within a Chat Widget
You can connect a Conversation AI bot to your chat widget so it handles initial responses automatically — answering common questions, capturing lead info, and booking appointments — before handing off to a live team member if needed. This is especially useful if you are a solo entrepreneur or small team that cannot always respond in real time.
Step 1 — Navigate to Chat Widgets
Go to Sites > Chat Widget from the left-hand navigation in your Captivation Hub account.
Step 2 — Create a New Widget
Click the + New Widget button in the top right corner to begin.
Step 3 — Select Your Chat Type
Choose the chat type that fits how you want to communicate with visitors. Refer to the Chat Type Options section above for descriptions of each.
Step 4 — Customize the Widget
Set your widget name, greeting message, brand color, and availability. These control what visitors see when the widget appears on your page.
Step 5 — Copy and Install the Widget Code
Once configured, copy the embed code and paste it into your website or funnel. If you are building inside Captivation Hub, you can add the widget directly from your page settings without touching any code.
Step 6 — Add to Your Funnels or Websites
Inside your Captivation Hub account, go to Funnels, Websites, Blogs and select the chat widget type to add it to any page directly.
Note: Some registration flows check whether a live chat widget is installed on your website before submission. Make sure the widget is active and visible on your site if your registration process includes a compliance review step.
Frequently Asked Questions
