This guide walks you through the full process of creating a product that can be sold as a membership course in Captivation Hub. You will configure your product, add pricing, and link it directly to a published membership offer. Once a customer purchases the product, they automatically gain access to the associated course — no additional manual setup needed.
A course offer lets you bundle one or more membership courses and sell them at a set price. When a customer purchases a product tied to this offer, they are automatically granted access to the courses included in that bundle.
How to Configure Your Product and Attach a Course Offer
Step 1 — Access the Product Creation Page
Navigate to Payments from the left-hand menu, hover over the Products dropdown in the top menu, and click Products. This takes you to the product management page. Click the blue + Create Product button in the top right to open the product creation interface.
Step 2 — Fill in Product Information
In the Product Information section, define the core details for your product:
- Include in Online Store: Toggle this on if you want the product to be visible in your online storefront.
- Title: Required. This name appears on checkout, internal views, and public listings.
- Description: Add a detailed product overview using rich text formatting (bold, bullets, links, etc.).
- Media: Upload an image or video representing your product. Recommended: 1024x1024px, max 10MB.
- Product Label: Optionally enable a custom label (e.g., "New" or "Top Pick") for visual badges.
- Product Collection: Assign the product to a collection to group similar products for better organization.
Step 3 — Configure Tax Options
In the tax section, you can:
- Select a Product Tax Code to enable automatic tax calculations at checkout (or leave blank to use your default global tax settings).
- Choose whether to include tax in prices (tax-inclusive vs. tax-exclusive).
- Attach specific Tax Rates if handling taxes manually or working with international buyers.
- Set a Statement Descriptor to override the default name shown on customer bank statements — this helps reduce confusion and disputes.
Step 4 — Set Pricing
In the Pricing section, configure how customers will be charged:
- Pricing Name: An internal label to distinguish pricing tiers.
- Type: Choose Onetime (single charge) or Recurring (subscription with billing cycle, trial, and setup fee options).
- Amount: The exact price to charge.
- Compare-at Price: Optional. Display an original price next to the sale price to highlight discounts.
- Currency: Select the currency for payment.
- Track Inventory: Enable this if you want to limit the number of purchases.
Important: If you create a recurring subscription and set a specific number of payments, the subscription will end and cancel automatically after that count is reached. Leave the payment count field blank if you want the subscription to run indefinitely until manually cancelled.
Step 5 — Link the Product to a Membership Offer
This is the essential step that connects your product to course access. Toggle on the Membership Offer option. A Select Membership Offer dropdown will appear — choose the published offer that should be granted when someone purchases this product.
Important: Only published offers appear in this dropdown. If your offer is still in draft, it will not be selectable here. Make sure to publish your offer before creating the product.
How to Create a Course Offer (if you haven't yet)
- Go to the Memberships tab and click Offers from the dropdown.
- Click + Create Offer.
- Add a title, select your course(s), set the price, and click Create.
- Publish the offer so it becomes selectable when creating your product.
Step 6 — Add Product Variants (Optional)
The Variants section lets you create different versions of a product — for example, different pricing tiers or access durations. Add an Option Name (like "Course Level"), then add Option Values (like "Basic," "Premium," "Pro"). Each variant can have its own price, compare-at price, and inventory quantity.
Step 7 — Optimize Search Engine Settings (Optional)
The Search Engine Listing section helps your product get found online:
- SEO Title: A concise, keyword-rich title for search engines.
- SEO Description: A brief summary incorporating relevant keywords.
- Handle: The URL slug for this product (e.g., /product/my-course-name). Customize for readability and SEO.
Step 8 — Save Your Product
Click Save in the bottom right corner. Once saved, any customer who purchases this product will automatically gain access to the attached course offer — no additional steps required on your end.
