Affiliate campaigns in Captivation Hub let you track affiliate-generated sales or leads, define commission rules, assign affiliates, and control referral tracking from one place. This guide walks you through setting up your first campaign from start to finish.
What Is an Affiliate Campaign?
An affiliate campaign connects your product, funnel, or service to a group of affiliates who promote it using unique referral links. You control how commissions are earned (per sale, per lead, flat amount, or percentage), when they're paid, and which affiliates are involved.
Key Benefits
- Automate lead and sale attribution to specific affiliates
- Offer flexible, per-product commission structures
- Support multi-tier referral programs
- Manage all campaigns, affiliates, and commissions from one dashboard
Step-by-Step: Creating an Affiliate Campaign
Step 1 — Click the Add Button
Navigate to Affiliate Manager > Campaigns and click Add to start a new campaign.
Step 2 — Choose Your Campaign Source
Select what the campaign will track. Options include:
- Funnels — Track purchases made through a specific funnel
- Websites — Track purchases through a website
- Courses / Membership — Track course or membership sign-ups
- Forms / Surveys / Calendars — Track affiliate-generated leads
Step 3 — Configure Source Details
Select the specific funnel, website, or course to connect to this campaign. This determines which referral URL affiliates will receive.
Step 4 — Review Your Product List
If your source has products attached to it, they'll appear here. Review the list to make sure the right products are included for commission tracking.
Step 5 — Set the Default Commission
Choose how affiliates earn their commission. Options include:
- Flat dollar amount per sale or lead
- Percentage of sale value
- Recurring commission on subscription revenue
Set a cookie duration (how long a referral is tracked after the link is clicked) and whether commissions are auto-approved or held for review.
Step 6 — Customize Product-Level Commissions (Optional)
If you want different commission rates for specific products, you can override the default at the product level here.
Step 7 — Enable Multi-Tier Commissions (Optional)
Turn on multi-tier commissions if you want affiliates to earn from referrals they bring in (sub-affiliates). This unlocks tier-specific commission configuration in the next step.
Step 8 — Configure Tier-Specific Commissions
If multi-tier is enabled, set commission rates for each tier. You can also enable sub-affiliate sign-ups and auto-enroll new customers as sub-affiliates if relevant to your program structure.
Step 9 — Add a Campaign Description (Optional)
Add a description that explains the campaign to your affiliates. This appears in their affiliate portal so they know what they're promoting.
Step 10 — Assign Affiliates Directly
Add the affiliates you want to enroll in this campaign. You can search for existing contacts or add new affiliates here. Once assigned, each affiliate gets their unique referral link automatically.
Step 11 — Adjust Additional Settings
Review and configure any remaining options, such as minimum payout thresholds, campaign visibility, or any platform-specific settings that apply to your account setup.
Step 12 — Publish or Save as Draft
When you're satisfied with the setup, click Publish to make the campaign live, or Save as Draft to come back and finalize it later.
Changing the Campaign Source After Publishing
You can edit the source of a published campaign if the original funnel, course, or website has been deleted or changed. Keep in mind:
- A new referral URL is generated for the updated source
- The previous campaign URL stops tracking new referrals
- Existing settings and historical performance data are preserved
After changing the source, notify your affiliates so they can update their referral links. Old links will no longer convert.
