If you are on the Starter plan, you will need to connect your own API keys to power the AI features inside Captivation Genius. This is a one-time setup and only takes a few minutes.
What Is an API Key?
An API key is like a password that connects Captivation Genius to an AI service (like OpenAI or Claude). It allows the platform to send requests to that AI on your behalf. You are only billed by the AI provider for what you actually use, and costs are typically very low.
Which Key Do I Need?
At minimum, you need an OpenAI API key. This powers most of the applets inside Captivation Genius. You can also add keys for Claude and Gemini if you want to use those models, but OpenAI is the main one to start with.
How to Get Your OpenAI API Key
- Go to platform.openai.com and log in (or create a free account if you do not have one).
- Once logged in, navigate to the API Keys section.
- Click "Create new secret key."
- Give it a name (for example, the name of your white label platform).
- Click "Create secret key."
- Important: Copy this key right away and save it somewhere secure (like your notes app). You will not be able to see it again after you close this window.
How to Add the Key in Captivation Genius
- Log in to Captivation Genius.
- Switch to your white label workspace using the dropdown at the top.
- Click on "API Keys" in the menu.
- You will be asked to verify your password. Enter it and click verify.
- Paste your OpenAI key into the OpenAI API Key field.
- Click "Save API Keys" and you are all set.
On Professional or Enterprise?
If you are on the Professional or Enterprise plan, your API keys are already included. You do not need to set up your own. The platform uses company-provided keys on supported models, so you can start building right away.
