Captivation Hub's custom date reminders just got a major upgrade. You can now trigger workflow automations using date fields on Opportunities, Companies, and Custom Objects — not just contacts.
What's new
Date-based workflow triggers used to be limited to contact records, which made certain follow-up patterns awkward to build. With this update, the same trigger options now work across more record types, so you can start automations before, on, or after any key date stored on:
- Opportunities
- Companies
- Custom Objects
Why it matters
This unlocks several scenarios that previously needed clunky workarounds:
- Renewal nudges driven by an Opportunity close date
- Expiry alerts based on a custom object date field (think license, contract, or warranty expirations)
- Account check-ins tied to a Company anniversary or onboarding milestone
- Internal reminders for any date-driven business process tracked outside of contacts
Step 1 — Open or create a workflow
Navigate to Automation > Workflows in your Captivation Hub sub-account, then open an existing workflow or create a new one.
Step 2 — Add a date-based trigger
Click Add New Trigger and choose a date-based trigger such as Custom Date Reminder. When you configure the trigger, you'll now see record-type options beyond Contact — pick Opportunity, Company, or your Custom Object as needed.
Step 3 — Choose the date field
Select the specific date field on that record (e.g., a "Renewal Date" custom field on Opportunities, or an "Expiry" field on a Custom Object). Then set how far before, on, or after that date the workflow should fire.
Step 4 — Build out your actions
Add the workflow actions that should run when the trigger fires — internal notifications, emails, SMS, task creation, status changes, or anything else you'd normally automate. Save and publish the workflow when you're ready.
FAQ
Do I need to rebuild my existing contact-based date workflows?
No. Existing contact date triggers continue to work exactly as before. The new options are additive.
Can I trigger off date fields I created myself?
Yes. As long as the field is a date type on a supported record (Opportunity, Company, Contact, or a Custom Object), you can use it as the trigger field.
Does this work with Custom Objects I built in Labs?
Yes — any date field on a Custom Object is available, regardless of whether the object came from a template or was built from scratch.
